Further information on video playback is provided below.
Presenter 5 gives you the option of using either DirectShow, VLC or EVR (New in V5.2) for playback of videos. A video compatibility checking feature is included for each configuration.
DirectShow is part of the DirectX technology included in the Windows Operating System. If you have trouble playing a particular video, numerous codecs are available that support DirectShow and should solve most problems. We have found the K-lite Codec Pack (Basic version) suitable for most needs. It is hosted on sites such as free-codecs.com, digital-digest.com or codecguide.com.
The VLC player from videlan.org is a popular player that does not require additional codecs to be installed. Presenter 5 can be configured to connect to the VLC rendering system if it is installed via the regular Windows installer found here. Be sure to select the correct platform for your system (Win32 or Win64). The video configuration page provides assistance in this regard.
Enhanced Video Rendering is a feature built into Windows. It has the benefit of not requiring any additional components. Support for EVR is new and so we have tagged it as a BETA Preview feature in the initial release of Version 5.2.
